Adroit Biomed sees that an increasing incidence of fungal infections along with a greater awareness of skin related issues is accelerating the growth prospects of the Indian dermatology market.

Yet another dimension to the dermatology and cosmetology market in India is the growing desire to look presentable. With increasing demand for social aesthetics, the field of aesthetic medicine is growing where chemical peels, lasers and medical devices for aesthetics are growing, said Sushant Raorane, co-founder-director, Adroit Biomed which is the country’s leading manufacturer of Glutathione, an anti-oxidant that neutralizes free radicals and boosts the immune system.

But the COVID-19 pandemic has been detrimental for the dermatology sector. There are no major trials going on in India in clinical dermatology. A major challenge is that dermatology industry is impacted with a lower footfall of patients accessing dermatologists. In the current situation, immunity is of utmost importance so we are working on building our immunity boosting product portfolio, Raorane told Pharmabiz.

The global skincare market is fast growing, ranging from cosmetic products to over-the-counter drugs, to prescription drugs. The global dermatology market is evolving quickly with forecasts that indicate a global market of €81.9 billion in 2028, growing significantly from €44.1 billion in 2018. This market focuses on a combination of OTC and prescription products, which treat acne, psoriasis, alopecia, skin infections, skin cancer, rosacea, and atopic dermatitis.
The Indian dermatology market, valued at Rs. 9,585 crore, has been the fastest-growing therapy segment in the domestic market over the last three years, outperforming the larger categories of diabetes and cardiac treatments.
In the case of product, portfolio takes care of various therapy areas like skin lightening, anti-aging, trichology, moisturisers, acne and sunscreens. Some of these are topical vitamin C with the unique MSC technology: EscorZ and vitamin C. Glutone is a special range of products containing Glutathione in its purest form: Setria Glutathione from Japan. “Our Glutone is today the No. 1 brand of glutathione in India. Skinfay capsule is the only oral moisturizer and is Adroit’s hydrating innovation. Racine offers an intensive solution for hair fall and baldness. Our Auxina, RACINE hair lotion quickly initiates growth in dormant follicles and over the period normalizes hair cycle. These segments are faring well and we are the category leaders,” said Raorane.
