According to sources, the government has decided to shore up the capabilities of the pharma industries and brush up the skill of the company staffs and to increase the quality of the medicines manufactured in the state by providing all kinds of incentives and technical support to the manufacturers because several units have already closed down their production and some of them have shifted to other states like Jharkhand and Sikkim due to unfeasible conditions in HP.

In the Pharma Summit, the BBNDA will try to bring industry leaders from almost all the states, government officials including Central and state regulators, pharma researchers, academia and healthcare professionals from various states. The summit will discuss the latest trends, challenges and opportunities in the pharmaceutical sector, especially in Himachal, and provide a platform to foster collaboration and partnerships for promoting pharmaceutical advancements in the northern part of the country. The event will consist of keynote addresses, panel discussions, interactive sessions, networking opportunities and a programme of knowledge sharing. The manufacturers of pharma and medical devices will showcase their latest products and services in the summit.

It is learnt that the organizers have invited the additional chief secretary in-charge of health department in Jharkhand state, Dr. Arun Kumar Singh, as the chief speaker in the inaugural session of the programme. He is expected to speak for collaboration between the two states in promoting the pharma sector in the northern part of the country.

The Joint drug controller of Jharkhand, Sumar Kumar Tiwari said the National Pharma Summit 2023 to be organized by the Government of Himachal Pradesh is supported by the health department of Jharkhand and several pharma manufacturers and regulatory officials from Ranchi will attend the event. He said the pharma industry sector in Jharkhand is also planning to organize one pharma event in Ranchi. According to him, the upcoming 500 acre pharma park in Fuddi in Jharkhand is in the pipeline and the government of the state has already decided to provide all kinds of incentives and tax holidays to the entrepreneurs who want to open their units in the pharma park.

Tiwari had earlier submitted a comprehensive proposal to the Government of Jharkhand for the setting up of the pharma park which is set up 18 kilometers away from the Ranchi airport. The industry in the state hopes that Jharkhand will become a major pharma hub in the eastern part of the country to support the pharmaceutical needs of the eastern and the north-eastern states.
