NABL Kolkata spearheads cutting-edge awareness programme on calibration of medical devices

Posted on Updated on

In order to set in pioneering progress in Eastern India’s laboratory standards, the National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratories (NABL) Kolkata office has orchestrated a ground-breaking virtual awareness program, revolutionizing perspectives on calibration within the Eastern India region’s laboratories.

Focused on two pivotal areas—medical device calibration and electromagnetic compatibility (EMI/EMC) calibration—the event illuminated the path towards enhanced precision and safety in testing protocols.

Electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) and electromagnetic interference (EMI) are frequently referred to when discussing the regulatory testing and compliance of electronic and electrical products. Electromagnetic compatibility and interference are extremely important design considerations.

More specifically, EMC—electromagnetic compatibility—measures how well electrical devices can function while being hit with EMI (released energy from another electrical device). While EMI is the problem, EMC sees how well that problem can be handled.

Distinguished luminaries from esteemed organizations took center stage, delivering meticulously curated talks that illuminated the indispensable role of medical device calibration in ensuring unparalleled patient care. With a keen eye on detail, the speakers underscored the critical importance of calibrated medical equipment, serving as the cornerstone of reliable diagnostic practices and therapeutic interventions.

Furthermore, the discourse delved into the intricacies of EMI/EMC calibration, elucidating its paramount significance in safeguarding both household environments and industrial process units. Through compelling insights, attendees gained a profound understanding of how meticulous calibration mitigates potential risks, fortifying safety standards and operational efficiency alike.

A symphony of engagement and enlightenment pervaded the virtual session, as 54 participants hailing from diverse calibration laboratories across the region immersed themselves in dynamic discussions and knowledge-sharing endeavors. The interactive platform served as a nexus for collective learning, fostering an environment ripe for innovative ideation and best practice dissemination.

Buoyed by resounding acclaim and constructive feedback from participants, the demand for similar awareness programs reverberated with resounding clarity. Responding to this clarion call, the Quality Council of India (QCI) – NABL Eastern Regional Office pledged its unwavering commitment to spearheading additional initiatives on diverse topics of paramount importance.

“The resounding success of this pioneering endeavor not only underscores NABL’s unwavering dedication to advancing laboratory standards but also heralds a new era of collaboration and excellence within the industry. By championing a culture of continuous improvement and knowledge exchange, NABL reinforces its position as a trailblazer in shaping the future of calibration practices. As the pursuit of precision and compliance continues to evolve, laboratories across the eastern region stand poised to embrace transformative change, armed with newfound insights and capabilities gleaned from this landmark event,” said N Venkateswaran, CEO, NABL.
